Mauro Libi: You have to admit that sometimes you are WRONG

Nobody is perfect. We are humans, it is natural to fail, to be wrong. This hasn’t have to embarrass anyone, but you have to see how much it costs people to admit that they have made a mistake. They haven’t finished understanding people, especially those in leadership positions, that recognizing such mistakes offers a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow. In the business field, the entrepreneur admits their mistakes is the right way to strengthen the organization and encourage their employees to trust them and themselves, feeling that they are in a place where failure doesn’t becomes a stigma which they mark them when incurring a fault. It is part of the process and it is only about learning and moving forward.

How much a leader grows in the eyes of his team when he admits that he has been wrong. They earn the respect and consideration of those who are under their care and of those who stand above it on the hierarchical scale. This opportunity, we are going to show you five tips to help you accept your mistakes:

1. Accept your responsibility: The leader is responsible for both, his work team and the tasks they carry out under his guidance and, in that sense, he is responsible for everything that happens surrounded by him. It is not worth apologizing, but admitting the error and seeking the solution to the problem generated. Likewise, build trust among your workers so they can accept when they make mistakes. Show respect and support and work together to solve the problem.

2. Be sincere: Honesty is very important; when you apologize the eyes of your team will be looking for signs of falsehood in you. Therefore, be sincere and show yourself as you are and express what you truly feel.

3. Show what you have learned: Apologizing should be accompanied by an explanation about what happened and why it happened. Note that it led him to proceed in such a way to later admit the error and learned from the whole situation. Everything done of this nature leaves a lesson for you and your work team.

4. Make proactive changes: Words must be accompanied by facts, so after admission and apologies, proceed to outline a change plan that should make everyone known.

5. Be empathetic and transmit hope: Mistakes have consequences and it is possible that others have been affected by their mistake, not to mention the work team that, like you, was invested in the failed process. Be empathic with those affected, let them know that you understand that their mistake brought consequences. What follows is to refer to how to assimilate the situation as learning.

Positive leadership is a positive result

Por Mauro Libi.- Studies have found that worker engagement is a key indicator of corporate performance, so the secret lies in matching economic gains and human flourishing. The work centers with pleasant and prosperous environments have an impact on the workability and the productivity, the work becomes rewarding and is carried out with better performance. In addition, the health of both employees and the organization itself increases.

Companies where employees are more closely connected and feel more involved with business values, exhibit higher levels of profitability, productivity, turnover, less work absenteeism and are better evaluated by customers. When the worker feels satisfied, he becomes more involved in his work, while developing better relationships with the other members of the organization, even cultivating friendships. For them, their work is very important.

This is not by chance, but the product of positive leadership for which the wellbeing of workers is as important as the profits that are generated, they make the maxim that workers are the most important capital of organizations. Positive leaders (those who promote an equally positive climate in organizations, those who develop high levels of empathy with the members of their work teams) are those who achieve better results in their management. Improving the way the daily tasks are developed helps build better workplaces.

Positive leaders develop a positive and welcoming environment where positive emotions that provide security and allow discover and build new skills, social bonds, knowledge and behaviors. It is estimated that organizations that allow positive climates through high levels of compassion, forgiveness, gratitude, integrity, trust and optimism, exhibit better work processes. There, positive leaders cultivate a positive emotional environment that improves workers' life’s quality, commitment and performance. Positive leaders reinforce the self-esteem of workers, who feel that what they do is important, they empower themselves, they commit to work and to the company.

5 mistakes to avoid when you are promoted to boss

Por Mauro Libi.- He was promoted in his company.Success! But not only that, it is not any promotion, now is the head of your division or department, then, attention! You have to be prepared to avoid making mistakes that are often incurred by those who are elevated to leadership positions. This new responsibility entails more work, constant learning and improving your professional career.

The first thing to understand is that the concept of boss changed and it is no longer the old grumpy despot who from a higher position martyred his workers to fulfill the goals and in the office. The new boss should be broadly communicative and have a great ability to resolve conflicts. But let's see what the five most common mistakes are made by new bosses:

1. Pretending to hide problems is a very common reaction, which is not recommended. The ostrich hides its small head and exposes its large body, don’t do the same thing. The problems must be faced, that is the attitude that a professional must assume.

2. Wanting to introduce yourself as someone who knows you and knows everything is a wrong attitude. Keep it in mind: Smart people don’t exist, so don’t presume to be one because it can go very badly. Lying is not right, so if you don’t know a topic or don’t know how to remedy an issue, acknowledge it and promise to advice on how to do and seek help from the best. Surely, among the members of your team is the answer. Honesty is one of the most admired qualities in a boss.

3. Don’t want or know how to accept criticism. This is very common, because while pretending to know everything, many feel that they are infallible, and infallibility, dear friends, simply doesn’t exist. Not accepting criticism for the work performed, especially when these are constructive, is a big mistake. Professionals should be willing to listen to.

4. Excuses and more excuses. It is a frequent departure from pretending to justify all the performances, especially those that are wrong. Excuses are nothing more than fears.

5. Lack of initiative. The inability to take initiatives, to become a proactive person, is one of the most blatant mistakes a boss can make. In fact, the directive put it there to the contrary, to decide and deal with the problems. Leaders must create opportunities where others see disadvantages.
