Mauro Libi Crestani : How to manage in times of trouble

To the extent that economic problems have increased in Venezuela it has increased the uncertainty regarding how to manage companies. Certainly more complex times require daring and innovative strategies to overcome the obstacles.

It often happens that low economic cycles push employers to be more creative, compelling them to reveal their talents to stay afloat.

Libi in Group companies are working based on new scenarios, re focusing on creating and innovating new products and services.

If we have learned anything in these times is that you need to remain calm and face the complexities and practice good time management.  These days companies need more dedication to maintain order, so you need to know how important time management is. Prioritizing  tasks, then delegating those  tasks to trusted employees, giving them responsibility and making workers feel part of the company.

A  positive attitude is very important to keep the company afloat, giving employees support and security, strengthen their positive behaviors, redirecting efforts to render their personal capacity, motivate them, spend time with them and make them feel at home.

Mauro Libi: How to combat low employee productivity

One of the reasons why low employee productivity occurs according to experts is because of how the employee works and not by the nature of work itself. There are several ways to measure productivity, but most consider a large amount of work completed in a short period of time.

There are employees who are able to perform tasks in fewer hours than others, which does not make them more productive. You have to understand the amount of work is not always the main indicator of productivity. Increasing the quantity is of little use if the quality suffers.

There are employees who are trained in their field and are unable to work as fast as the other team members. That problem may be due to other factors that have nothing to do with intelligence, but with poor organization, personal problems, etc.

Those skilled in Time Management  offer advice to overcome these weaknesses: You have to start the day with a list of the unfinished tasks from the previous day. Start with the tasks that need to be executed immediately. You can resolve emergency issues via phone, fax or email. Conclude each task before you start another task. Being productive means that you accomplish so many tasks. Accomplishing a task means that you completed that task assignment. As your day comes to an end file your completed task and make a list of your obligations that must be met the next day.
Put everything on the agenda. Employees and successful entrepreneurs do not have a bad memory but poor  disorganization. Managing an organization requires disciplineperseverance, organization and positive attitude.

Mauro Libi: Business have to work with the community to build the community

We are having an extremely good year, What do you do when you are ahead? You don't make mistakes. you don't gamble unnecessarily. You protect your lead. You make sure nobody gets hurt. You got to use these  guys in the next game. We won this game. What if we had a good guy tuna company that was on the porpoise team? A lot of guys will buy that so their kids will not get mad at them. We don't care how much it cost to protect the porpoise, just how much it makes. If it cost too much, then we charge a penny more. We could advertise, would you pay a penny more to save a fish? Let the other companies build their plants in the wrong places. Let's be the company that makes the rules, plays fair, that's popular. Forget those nuclear power plants till we know they're safe. That refinery in Pagglesham, we will have to relocate it. It will cost us millions, but we don't care, because we will come out ahead in the end. That plastic stuff that we make, we will have to stop. . We are not here just for one game, we are going all the way....And we'll already have won.

The above is part of the script from the Movie, Heaven can Wait. the movie came out in 1978.  That was years before the concept of Shared value initiative came out. The 1970's was supposed to me the era of the 'me' generation, yet we see the early concept of joint responsibility to every ones gain. This is the concept of Shared Value initiative. Where big business works with the community to protect the oceans, the environment. The concept is for business to work with the community to build the community for the long run and that in turn will cost the company for the now, but in the end the company will also gain.

Mauro Libi: It's a question of attitude

But we had a rule in my neighborhood, when you got in a fight, it wasn’t whether or not you got knocked down. It’s what you do when you get back up. We all have failures. When you have a failure, you have two choices. You could let it get you down and admit defeat. Or you can see the failure as just a step toward success and realize that when you get back up, you will be even stronger. It's a question of attitude.

A person with a positive attitude, will see everything as another step toward his goal and success. It doesn't matter if you have a few bumpy steps in the road, you know they all lead to your chest of gold.

A poor attitude makes a person depressed. When your depressed, it's hard to be creative. It's hard to come up with that great idea that will make you a winner. For a writer, to write his best seller book, for a scientist to discover that great discovery, they need to first believe that could do it. If they believe that they could do the impossible, then they could see things that do not presently exist. To discover the next wonder drug or computer program. It's all a question  of perspective and positiveattitude. Peter Pan, an imaginary figure said it best, " if you believe, if you really believe, then you can fly."

Mauro Libi: Is it possible to grow in times of crisis?

To the question it is possible to grow in times of crisis, my answer is always yes. Yes, you can grow and make money in bad times but for that to happen we must bear in mind that the crisis will not disappear because people want to.  Economic  crises are cycles and as such require that you change certain factors.

The first thing to do is take the crisis as a collective responsibility, and not a single sector. The crisis is a result of economic behavior of societies and in which everyone has responsibility to a lesser or greater extent. Many believe that spending money will further aggravate the crisis, but the truth is that this is not true. The solution to the crisis is not to keep the money in savings and to avoid spending money during the bad economic times. This will stagnate growth of the company because the money kept in an account is useless. The money has to be invested to make more, to get the economy moving. We must be conscious and intelligent when it comes to moving money but never let it sit.

There are many professionals who decide to invest in training in times of crisis so that it returns to profit.

It is also advisable to innovate. Putting creativity to work, we must renew the way of thinking and acting, the changes are everyday, and what worked yesterday does not work today. I recommend to be aware of what is happening in society and adapt to changes optimistically.

Your attitude is the engine that drives us. Think positive, losing fears and learn from each failure. Be proactive, do not keep looking at the crisis in the country and do not believe that everything will change for the overnight as if by magic.

Ubícate acts, if you do not know where to start, read, see, for your economic future depends on your own ability, not the government or economic factors in society.

The crisis does not end with tears, complaints or contemplation to action but with human beings doing hard work and using their intelligence.
